The Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP says a proposed cut to small business tax rates will help the riding.
This comes as the federal government has announced a plan to reduce the current 10.5 per cent small business tax rate to nine per cent by 2019. The tax rate would drop to 10 per cent by next year.
MP Mike Bossio says doing this will help build long-term sustainable rural communities.
Bossio says this is an important step locally due to the number of small businesses across the Hastings-Lennox and Addington riding. Bossio says lower tax levels will mean more jobs are going to be created.
The proposed cut to the small business tax rate was part of a campaign promise during the last federal election. Bossio says the legislation will still have to be put forward to the House of Commons for approval.
