Hastings Highlands looks into curbside furniture sharing events

Hastings Highlands Council is looking into a new way to help residents share their used furniture.

Council has voted in favour of looking into hosting two events each year in Hastings Highlands to give residents a chance to take old furniture out to the curb, and let others pick it up for free. Councillor Tracy Hagar put forward the motion, saying having these types of events would benefit the municipality.

Hagar says, as part of these events, residents whose items are not picked up by the end of the day would have to take them back inside.

Staff is expected to bring back a report on how the municipality could roll out these types of events.
