Apsley residents call for support against looming bank closure

With the looming closure of the Royal Bank of Canada branch in Apsley, some residents want to have their voices heard.

In early October, RBC announced its Apsley branch would be merging with the Lakefield branch on April 20th. After that, all accounts from the Apsley branch will be transferred over.

RBC Kawartha Lakeshore Regional Vice President Scott Mancini says the decision to close the branch was made because more clients are opting to use online banking. He says there will still be an RBC ATM in Apsley.

However, a group of Apsley residents have organized a public meeting to show RBC the community is committed to keeping its only bank open. The ‘Save Our Bank’ community information session is being held at the North Kawartha Community Centre tomorrow night at 7:00pm.
