Loyalist College releases statement on resuming strike negotiations

Loyalist College’s Sr. Vice-President Academic and Chief Learning Officer Ann Drennan is unsure what will happen at the bargaining table.

This comes as the council representing 24 Ontario colleges and striking faculty have resumed negotiations as of today. Ontario’s college faculty, including Loyalist’s, has been on strike since October 16th.

Drennan says contingency plans are in place to make sure students complete their studies once the strike is over.

Drennan says Loyalist is currently working on a number of semester adjustment scenarios, although final decisions won’t be made until a deal is reached. These decisions will be based on how long the strike lasts. This could mean Reading Week in February is used to restructure the academic year, but the Winter Break in December would not change.
