So far, it looks like North Hastings is not going to get a pot store.
As part of the legalization process, the province has rolled out the first 14 municipalities in Ontario that will have stand-alone stores. The nearest municipalities set to have stores are Kingston, Barrie, Ottawa, and Toronto. But, by the time pot is legalized in July, there will be 40 stores open. It’s not known if North Hastings will have one.
Moose FM took to the street to find out how North Hastings residents feel about not making the province’s list.
Moose FM also asked North Hastings residents how they would feel if a pot store opened up in the area.
The province says about 150 stand-alone cannabis stores will be opened by 2020.
