The town of Bancroft wants to address the issue of needles lying around in the community.
Community Safety and Well-Being Committee Chair Charles Mullett says town staff has been finding discarded needles in a number of public places in town.
Mullett says leaving needles lying around can be a risk to the public. He says there are needle disposal boxes in Bancroft, and wants people to use them. Mullett is also reminding anyone who comes across needles not to pick them up, but to contact town staff or police.
Mullett says the committee has also organized a meeting with a number of different local organizations familiar with the issue.
The meeting is scheduled to be held Friday morning at 10:00am at the Bancroft Town Office.
