Highlands East starts planning for Canada Day

Winter may be approaching, but that won’t stop Highlands East from planning for Canada Day.

The municipality will be contributing $5,000 towards its 2018 celebrations, and applying for a grant from the federal Heritage Ministry. Mayor Dave Burton says the municipality had less than a week to get the grant request in, and says people can expect another fireworks show in Gooderham.

Burton says council wants to do something similar to this year’s celebrations.

There is no word on how much money the municipality is applying for.
