Bossio says proposed pot tax will trickle-down to local level

The Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP says a proposed federal marijuana tax will trickle-down to benefit municipalities.

This comes as the federal government is proposing a tax of one dollar per gram of marijuana, or 10 per cent of the final retail price. MP Mike Bossio says this tax will be used to uphold marijuana regulations.

Bossio says the proposed tax will be split 50/50 between the federal government and the province. He says the province will decide how the funds will be used at a local level.

Bossio says the federal government is still planning to legalize recreational marijuana by July 1^st. He says most provinces are on board with the plan.
