Loyalist College announces changes to fall and winter semesters

Loyalist College students can expect a number of changes to their semesters this school year.

Classes at Loyalist resumed today, after back-to-work legislation to end Ontario’s college strike was passed over the weekend.

Loyalist College Sr. Vice-President Academic and Chief Learning Officer Ann Drennan says the fall semester will now run until January 19th. There will be a short break between December 22nd and January 2nd. The winter semester will start on Monday January 29th, and run until April 27th. Drennan says the curriculum will be adjusted to make sure student can achieve all program learning outcomes.

The province will also require colleges to establish dedicated funds to help students who have been financially affected by the strike. The province says full-time students will be eligible for up to $500 for unexpected costs caused by the strike. Any strike-related support will not count against OSAP assessments.
