Police are concerned with the number of drivers who are not aware of the rules of the road of the road when it comes to school buses on multi-lane highways. Drivers on all highways that do not have a centre median must stop, in both directions when meeting school buses that have their red flashing signal-lights working. If there is a median strip, then the traffic in the opposite lanes does not have to stop. The fine for failing to stop for a school bus is $400 dollars plus a victim surcharge.
