This is Adoption Awareness Month. and Children’s Aid Societies (CAS) will be raising awareness of the importance of getting a child or youth into a safe and stable, nurturing environment. Placing children is difficult when dealing with teens, family groups, children with complex needs, diverse religious or cultural backgrounds. In the last year 28 adoptions were finalized through the Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society, and at the Kawartha-Haliburton CAS, 26 adoptions were finalized. you can get more information about children or youth in need of permanent homes at the Adopt Ontario website, www.adoptontario.ca.
