Bancroft Council appoints new member

Bancroft Council has announced who its newest member will be.

During today’s council meeting, Wayne Wiggins was named as the town’s new councillor. This comes after former Mayor Bernice Jenkins’ resignation. This prompted council to appoint Paul Jenkins to Mayor, and Charles Mullett to Deputy Mayor, which left one seat empty.

Wiggins was one of the runner-ups in Bancroft’s last election in 2014. Wiggins says he has mixed feelings about being appointed as the town’s newest councillor.

Prior to this, Wiggins has served one term as Bancroft’s Deputy Mayor, and another as a town councillor. He says he can bring some of his past experience to the table in his latest council term.

Mayor Paul Jenkins says, with a relatively short time left in the current term, Wiggins’ experience will be especially beneficial.
