The Good Food Box program will be able to ship out more fresh produce thanks to 1,200 new blue bins.
The program, run by the Community Development Council of Quinte, received the bins from the Healthy Kids Community Challenge Hastings & Prince Edward. As a result, delivery trucks will be able to send out 30 per cent more fruits and vegetables, without increasing the transportation costs.
The program offers fresh produce below-retail price to communities across Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. Locally, you can get these boxes at the North Hastings Community Cupboard.
