Food Insecurity a Problem in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties

The Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit says that healthy eating is not an option for many of the most vulnerable residents in the two counties. A recent Health Unit report shows an increasing gap between the cost of healthy foods and the fixed income of over Over 17,000 residents. Hastings and Prince Edward Counties have the second highest rate of food insecurity in Ontario, and the Health Unit’s Board of Directors has decided to ask the Province to get involved in a solution.
