You’ll be risking your own safety if you try using the snowmobile trails in Bancroft.
That’s according to OPP Sergeant Peter Leon, who says just because there’s snow on the trails right now doesn’t mean they’re ready to use.
Last winter, over 20 people were killed in snowmobile crashes in Ontario, including two in the Bancroft area. Leon says officers and riders need to work together to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
When trails do open, he says officers will be out in full force looking for riders not wearing helmets or drinking and snowmobiling.
