Good Samaritan replaces stolen nativity piece at local church

Someone has replaced Mary and Baby Jesus in St. Paul’s United Church’s nativity scene.

That’s according to Reverend Lynn Watson, who says she came into town of Saturday morning to find the new nativity scene piece at the church. This comes after the original statue of Jesus and Mary was stolen from St. Paul’s on the night of Saturday, December 16th.

Watson says an anonymous person made a new piece for the church, and put it up without anyone’s knowledge this past Friday night.

Watson says she is thankful to whoever replaced the nativity piece. However, she says the original has a lot of history to it, and would still like to see it returned.

Bancroft OPP continues to investigate the theft of the nativity piece at St. Paul’s United Church. Anyone with information about it is being asked to contact Bancroft OPP or Crime Stoppers.
