Residents Being Encouraged To Drive Sober, or Not At All

The Quinte Region Traffic Coalition is urging you to driver sober over the holiday season.

The coalition says this will help protect yourself, your future, and your loved ones.

You’re being reminded to plan ahead if you’re going to be drinking by having a designated driver, calling a cab, or staying overnight. It’s important to have cash and the phone number ready if you’ll be taking a taxi.

But, the coalition reminds you to never accept a ride from someone who’s been drinking. If someone is about to drink and drive, you’re being urged to speak up, ask for their car keys, or make sure they stay the night. If you suspect a driver is impaired, report it to police.

The QRTC also reminds you that OPP detachments across Ontario will be targeting impaired drivers as part of the Festive RIDE campaign, which runs until January 2nd.
