Sledders reminded to use caution on recently-opened trails

A snowmobile trail that connects Bancroft to Lake St. Peter is now open with limited availability.

That’s according to the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, which says riders can use the trail, but should understand they need to use extreme caution and slow down.

The trail is operated by the Maple Leaf Snow Skimmers. President Stuart McDonald says volunteers have put a lot of work into packing down and grooming the trail, but there is still some work to be done.

Some trails operated by the Old Hastings Snow Riders and Paudash Trail Blazers are also open with limited availability. However, most trails are still closed.

McDonald says he is hopeful to have more trails open soon if the forecasted snow keeps up.

You are being reminded to check trail availability on the OFSC’s interactive trail guide before heading out.
