EOWC sets out 2018 priorities

The Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus will continue to influence positive changes across the region in 2018.

This comes as the EOWC, which represents 750,000 rural Eastern Ontario taxpayers, has set out its two priorities for 2018. The first is to support a nearly $300-million proposal which would improve cellular and broadband services across the region. The second is implementing an Eastern Ontario Economic Development Strategy, meant to secure financial support from the province, and address economic development needs. This would be the first regional plan of its kind in Ontario.

Hastings County Warden Rodney Cooney says the EOWC’s goal is to improve service delivery, remove financial burdens, and encourage growth and economic development across Eastern Ontario.

The caucus has also voted-in United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Warden Robin Jones as its first female Chair for 2018. Renfrew County Warden Jennifer Murphy will take on the Vice-Chair role. EOWC members vote on a new chair and vice-chair every year.
