Three local fire departments collaborate on new training program

Fire departments in Wollaston, Limerick, and Faraday are working together on a response program tailor-made for the area.

That’s according to Limerick Fire Chief and Wollaston Acting-Fire Chief Jason Post, who says the three departments have been working on the training program focused on rural scenarios since last January. Implementing it is now underway.

Post says local departments are faced with unique challenges and large geographic areas that don’t match up with Ontario’s ‘one-size-fits-all’ training programs. Post says the new training program includes a focus on stopping fires from spreading from outside the home, instead of from the inside.

Post says another important piece is public education that early detection is the best way to keep yourself safe in case of a fire.

Post encourages you to get in touch with your local department if you have any fire-related questions.
