You are being warned about a possible mail scam in the area. A resident of Ivanhoe recently received a letter from Spain saying that she was entitled to millions of dollars following the death of a family member. The woman did not respond to the letter and contacted police instead. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says the scam, known as the “Inheritance Scheme,” usually results in the victim losing control over bank accounts or sending out money to the writer and getting nothing back.
