Highlands East council finds out about local hatchery’s efforts

Highlands East Council had the chance to find out about how the North Hastings Community Fish Hatchery is restocking local lakes.

Mayor Dave Burton says he invited the hatchery’s Vice-Chair Steve Wilkins and Director Ian Hendry to make a presentation during Wednesday’s municipal council meeting.

Wilkins and Hendry explained that since 2007, the hatchery has released nearly 15,000 trout into Paudash, Dark, and Hudson lakes. Wilkins says he wants to learn more about fish survival rates once they’ve been released.
