Bossio wants local schools to apply for new digital resources

Schools in North Hastings can apply for funding to help students learn new digital skills.

That’s according to the MP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington Mike Bossio. This comes as the federal government has announced it is investing $50-million into CanCode, an online resource that will give students from kindergarten to grade 12 the opportunity to learn how to code. Bossio says this is an important skill for students to have.

Teachers will also be equipped with tools to teach kids these skills.

Bossio says four schools in the riding have access to the program right now, none of which are in North Hastings. But, he says he wants to see schools in the area apply for funding to introduce them.

Bossio says this goes hand-in-hand with the government’s $500-million investment into rural broadband.
