Todd Smith says Patrick Brown did the right thing by stepping down.
The MPP for Prince Edward-Hastings made the comments to Moose FM this morning. Smith says the Ontario PC leader really only had one choice after two women accused him of sexual assault last week. Similar allegations were also made against the party’s President Rick Dykstra.
Smith says he thinks the men are in an unfortunate position.
Smith says what these women did by stepping forward took a lot of courage.
Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli will be the party’s Interim Leader until a leadership election is held. Smith says he believes Fedeli is the steadying force the party needs right now, and that he is the right guy to lead it into the election. Fedeli has announced he will not be seeking the role of permanent leader.
Patrick Brown has denied claims against him.
