Study of Bancroft’s sewer plant set to start

A study is about to begin to look at how Bancroft’s sewer plant can be run more efficiently.

Throughout next week, a Comprehensive Performance Evaluation will be undertaken on the system. Mayor Paul Jenkins says this will help the town find ways to make the plant more efficient so it won’t need to be expanded, which could in turn save the town money.

Jenkins says this is just the first step, but there will be a lot coming out of next week’s evaluation.

The evaluation is the first phase in a two year study of the sewer plant. The Federation of Canadian Municipalities provided Bancroft with a $163,700 grant for it.

Jenkins says the ultimate goal is to reduce Bancroft’s water and sewer rates.

You will have a chance to find out more about the project. A kick-off meeting will be held at the town’s municipal office next Monday at 9:00am. An exit briefing will also be held next Friday, February 9th, at 9:00am. Anyone with questions can also email CAO Hazel Lambe at [email protected].
