North Hastings residents weigh in on door-to-door sales ban

North Hastings residents have mixed feelings about an upcoming ban on unsolicited door-to-door sales.

In an effort to protect consumers, the province has announced it will be banning the door-to-door sale of some products and services starting on March 1st.  If you buy from an uninvited door-to-door sales person who shows up at your home, the contract will be void, and you’ll be able to keep the product with no strings attached. The new rules apply to:

– Air cleaners/conditioners/purifiers.

– Duct cleaning services.

– Furnaces.

– Water filters/heaters/purifiers/softeners/treatment devices.

Moose FM took to the streets, to ask North Hastings residents how they feel about the door-to-door sales ban.

Starting tomorrow, you’ll have to get in touch with a business in order to buy from it. Businesses will also have to keep proof that you contacted them.
