Some waste will no longer be accepted at North Baptiste Landfill

Changes will be coming to what kind of waste you can drop off at the North Baptiste Landfill.

Hastings Highlands Operations Manager Adrian Tomasini says because the dump is full, it will be turned into a waste transfer station.  The site will stay open, but any waste that is dropped off will have to be moved.

As part of the municipality’s agreement with the province, Tomasini says commercial, industrial, or institutional waste will no longer be accepted at the North Baptiste Landfill.

Tomasini says changes will also be coming to what type of waste and recyclables residents will be allowed to bring in.

Tomasini says the municipality really didn’t have a choice but to turn the landfill into a transfer station. The changes take effect on June 1^st.
