Bancroft OPP targeting distracted drivers during March Break

Bancroft OPP will be cracking down on distracted drivers as part of a province-wide March Break blitz.

Constable Philippe Regamey says officers will be targeting many types of distracted drivers next week, including those using their phones behind the wheel.

According to the OPP, distracted driving can also include eating, drinking, grooming yourself, or paying attention to your kids in the backseat instead of the road. Regamey says the blitz is happening because Ontario’s highways will be a lot busier during March Break.

Anyone found guilty of distracted driving could be fined up to $1,000, and have three demerit points added to their licence.

Police will also be targeting speeding, drinking and driving, and aggressive driving next week.
