Bancroft’s water and sewer rates could be going up next week. Council will consider whether or not rates should increase by 2.5 per cent this year.
Although lower than the five per cent originally recommended by the town’s consultant, this would tack onto last year’s 53 per cent rate increase. The consultant says these increases are needed to address the town’s accumulated deficit from running the treatment plants, and to continue to maintain them into the future.
The open session of Bancroft Council’s meeting at the town office gets underway at 10:00am on Tuesday.
