Three projects to engage North Hastings’ seniors will split over $53,000 in federal funding. Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Mike Bossio appeared at Bancroft’s Village Playhouse today to announce the three recipients of New Horizons for Seniors grants:
– The Mayo Recreation Committee and the Little Mississippi Seniors Club will receive $19,858 for renovations to the kitchen cupboards at the Mayo Community Centre.
– Bancroft’s Village Playhouse will get $17,610 to put towards theatrical training for seniors and a Christmas play this year.
– The Bancroft North Hastings Heritage Museum will receive $15,802 to publish a cookbook of historical recipes from local women, along with their stories. Anyone interested in submitting a story and recipe can contact the museum to find out more.
Bossio says these investments are important to ensure that seniors stay engaged.
Since 2016, communities in North Hastings have received over $240,000 in New Horizons grants. Bossio says the local region has been the most successful in the entire riding because residents are very engaged and caring.
Bossio encourages anyone with a project they believe should get a New Horizons for Seniors grant to contact his constituency office for help with their application.
