Load restrictions are now in effect on roads in Bancroft. Public Works Manager Perry Kelly says commercial vehicles will not be allowed to carry more than five tons per single axle throughout the spring thaw.
Kelly says all municipalities put load restrictions in place to protect roads from being damaged as the weather heats up. He says this is especially important for surface-treated or paved roads, which can be badly damaged by vehicles.
Kelly says load restrictions will be in place until roads have dried-up and overnight temperatures stay above zero. There is no firm date on when the restrictions will be lifted.
