Bancroft and surrounding area is entering the snowmobile season and the Bancroft OPP are reminding snowmobilers to be responsible on trails. The police are offering the following basic tips to make your snowmobile ride safe and enjoyable:
Make sure that you carry your licence, ownership and insurance on your person.
Stay on marked trails and respect private property.
Obey the speed limit on trails.
Trail permits are required if operating your machine on an Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club prescribed trail.
Make sure that all permits are affixed properly on your snowmobile before operating it on a trail.
Don’t drink and drive.
The OPP also reminds you that no ice is safe ice, check ice conditions before going onto to it.
