Age-Friendly Community Planning Grant Program Being Considered by Bancroft

The province of Ontario has brought out a new grant program to assist communities address the needs of our aging populations. The Age-Friendly Community Planning Grant Program can provide municipalities with funding to plan services and programs to help seniors live in a secure environment, enjoy good health and participate more fully in their communities. The Chief Administrative Officer (C.A.O. ) for the Town of Bancroft, Hazel Lambe says there is good reason to look at this program as Bancroft’s average age is higher than the provincial average. Lambe say that accessibility is an issue in Bancroft. The town’s economic plan includes attracting more retirees to Bancroft. The Grant Program would provide town council with background necessary to determine the needs within the town from a social and supportive perspective. C.A.O. Lambe added that the staff have prepared a report and recommendation for the town council.
