CBS looks to collect from 90 people during upcoming blood donor clinic

Canadian Blood Services has upped its target for Monday’s clinic in Bancroft.

Territory Manager Debbi Barfoot says CBS is looking to collect 90 units of blood. In the past the goal has been 72 units, but Barfoot says CBS had to set higher targets after coming out of an extremely rough winter.

According to Barfoot, 90 units can help about 11 people being treated for Leukemia, or five who have been in a car accident.

Barfoot says there is a need for people with O negative blood to donate because it can be given to anyone.

However, Barfoot says everyone is being called on to donate regardless of their blood type.

You can book an appointment by calling 1-888-2-DONATE or by clicking here. Drop-ins are also welcome, but you will have to bring ID. Monday’s clinic runs from 1:30pm to 6:30pm at the Bancroft Pentecostal Tabernacle.

Barfoot also reminds you to make sure you’ve eaten and are well-hydrated before donating.
