Canadian Blood Services plans to host fewer clinics in Bancroft, but set higher targets.
That’s according to Territory Manager Debbi Barfoot, who says CBS will look to collect 90 units of blood every time it comes to town. However, there will only be four clinics in Bancroft this fiscal year, which runs from April 1st to March 31st. Last fiscal year, CBS held five local clinics, and the year before, it held six. Barfoot says fewer clinics will be held because women now have to wait 84 days between donations. It used to be 56 days.
Barfoot says CBS’ goal for this year is to attract 10 new donors at every clinic in town, along with bringing more people back who used to give blood.
Eighty-nine people gave blood at the most recent clinic in Bancroft. This means CBS managed to collect 99 per cent of its target during Monday’s clinic.
Overall, CBS collected 98 per cent of its target in Bancroft last fiscal year, with 16 new donors stepping through the doors.
The next local blood donor clinic will happen at the Bancroft Pentecostal Tabernacle on June 18th. Click here to book an appointment.
