The Bancroft District of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has issued a water safety statement for the area.
Because of this weekend’s forecasted rain and snow, along with the possibility of snow melting, levels in local waterways could rise. Residents are being urged to be cautious around fast-moving rivers and streams. Those who have a history of flooding should also take measures to protect their property, like making sure sump pumps work and securing anything that could float away if water levels rise. There is also the potential of flooding on roads, along with ditches and low-lying areas. Major flooding is not expected.
