Water and Wastewater Rates Not Changing in Madawaska Valley

Water and wastewater rates in Madawaska Valley won’t be going up.

Tuesday night at Madawaska Valley Council it was announced that rates for both water and wastewater in the township would stay the same instead of being increased.

In addition, the minimum charge for residents will actually be going down throughout the township.

That means that residents who use less than 15 cubic metres of water quarterly will now pay the minimum water cost of just over $136, which is $30 cheaper than the old minimum cost of $166.

The retirement debt that has been on Water and Waterwater bills in the past has also been taken off as the plants built in 1976 have been fully paid off by the township and its residents.
