Bancroft residents move forward with committee to voice concerns about town’s future

A committee made up of Bancroft residents is starting to take shape.

The committee, currently called the Concerned Citizens of Bancroft and Dungannon, was formed after a Citizens’ Town Hall held last month. The goal is to address concerns about the current state of the town in order to promote positive change. Chair Wilma Brethour says the group has now formed subcommittees to focus on four priorities for the town’s future.

During last month’s town hall, Councillor Barry McGibbon said he would put forward a motion asking that council have open discussions with the committee. The motion is currently being looked into by the town. Brethour says the residents’ committee is not quite ready to meet with Bancroft Council.

Brethour says there will be about 24 members during the committee’s next meeting from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday in room 103 at North Hastings High School. The committee is also accepting any new members.
