The province is helping to fund a plan to grow business and population in Eastern Ontario.
Earlier this week, the province announced it will be putting $135,000 towards an Eastern Ontario Economic Development Strategy. It’s being created by the Eastern Ontario Leadership Council, which includes representation from Hastings County.
Warden Rodney Cooney says the strategy will help improve internet, cell, and transportation services in the region. Cooney says this is a blueprint to let people know that you don’t have to be along the 401 corridor to have a great lifestyle.
Cooney says the plan will also let entrepreneurs know that they can still have a competitive business in rural parts of Eastern Ontario.
Cooney says the EOLC believes the region has a lot to offer, and the plan will help show that off.
The EOLC says this is the first strategy of its kind in Ontario. According to the province, it will continue supporting it.
