You can help clean up Bancroft and Highlands East this weekend

Highlands East residents are being invited to help clean the municipality this weekend.

The municipality is holding community clean-up events on Saturday, and asking residents to spend some time picking up trash that’s been left behind after the winter. Deputy Reeve and Haliburton County Warden Suzanne Partridge says it’s shocking how much litter there is.

Bags and gloves will be given to anyone taking part in the clean-up event. Partridge says it’s easy to get rid of bags of trash once they’re filled.

Partridge says more and more people have been joining to help clean up the municipality every year. If you want to take part, you can meet up at the fire hall in Cardiff, Gooderham, Wilberforce, or Paudash. The event starts at 10:00am and runs until noon tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the annual Mark McGhee Pitch-in Day is also happening in Bancroft on Sunday. It starts at 10:00am in Millennium Park.
