Mayor says budget meeting is about more than the numbers

Bancroft residents are being encouraged to see how their money is being spent.

That’s the message from Mayor Paul Jenkins, who wants everyone to come out to tomorrow night’s public budget meeting. Jenkins says the town is still targeting a 3.6 per cent annual drop in taxes.

A 3.6 per cent decrease would equal taxes going down by about $66 a year for the median property assessed at $142,000.

But Jenkins says the meeting will be about more than just the budget; it’s also a chance to see what the town has been working on, and what its plans are for the future. Jenkins says council wants to promote growth through facilities and attractions that will make people want to live in the town.

Water and sewer issues, community hubs, and the town’s library will also be talked about at the meeting. It starts at 7:00pm tomorrow at Club 580.
