Hastings Highlands residents are being invited to help get rid of litter along municipal roads this weekend.
The Downtown Maynooth sector of the Maynooth and Hastings Highlands Business Association has organized a community clean-up event. Member and Councillor Tracy Hagar says it’s important to clean-up litter in the community, because an unbelievable amount is left behind.
Hagar says it’s also a great way to spend time with your neighbours.
The event starts at 3:00pm on Sunday in downtown Maynooth. Anyone who takes part is asked to sort recyclables and garbage, and leave full bags on the side of the road for municipal staff to pick up on Monday. A free barbeque will also happen at 5:30pm for anyone who participates.
The clean-up was originally supposed to happen a couple weeks ago, but Hagar says there was too much snow left in ditches. She says the weather seems like it will be perfect this weekend.
