York River still under flood warning; Little Mississippi and Madawaska under watch

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has extended its flood warning for the York River. The MNRF says flooding will start, or is already happening, along the waterway. The Little Mississippi and Madawaska rivers are also under a flood watch. Flooding is possible along them.

The MNRF says flows in the York and Little Mississippi rivers are still high, and those who live along them could be affected by flooding. Flows on the Madawaska River are rising as well.

Anyone with a history of flooding is being reminded to make sure their sump pumps work and secure anything that could float away if water levels rise. Nuisance flooding could also happen on roads, in ditches and in low-lying areas. You are also being reminded to be cautious near fast-moving rivers and streams.

The rest of the Bancroft District is under a flood outlook statement, meant to give early notice that flooding is possible. Flows in the Burnt, Irondale, and Black rivers are still high, but have started dropping. Most lake levels are about average for this time of year, but could go up because of rain and snow melting.
