Fire Safety Tips from Miles Maughan 12-29-2014 AS

If you’re still playing host to some family for the holidays, Dysart Fire Chief Miles Maughan says there are some safety tips to keep in mind:
Make sure have an escape plan and review it with any guests.
Encourage smokers to smoke outside, not only for the obvious health reasons, but to also reduce chance of butts starting a fire. Keep lighters and matches out of the reach of children.
Watch what you cook, if you must leave the kitchen, shut off the stove until you return.
When you’re cooking with grease, always have a lid nearby to put it out in case it catches fire.
