MNRF reminds you to get a license before fishing this summer

If you plan on fishing this summer, make sure you’re licensed to do so.

That’s the message from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, which says lakes across Ontario will likely be busier after the first long weekend of the cottage season.

MNRF Conservation Officer Jeff Milloy says you need to make sure you have your license before casting your line.

Milloy says a license can range between $17 and $30 depending on whether or not you’re a resident of Ontario.

He also says if you’re caught fishing without a license, there could be consequences.

Milloy also says the water is a bit colder than usual right now and that water levels might be higher depending on where you are. He also suggests always using a lifejacket while on your boat.
