Walk in Bancroft to raise money for service dogs

North Hastings residents will be coming together to help make sure those who need service dogs have them.

The Pet Valu: Walk for Dog Guides is coming up on Sunday. Organizer Laverne Stapley says the goal is to raise money to make sure that Canadians who need services dogs can get them for free.

According to a Lion’s Club release, it can cost up to $25,000 to breed, train, and match guide dogs. That’s why Stapley says this is an important cause to support. He says it’s also a chance for participants to meet up, socialize, and get some exercise.

Registration for the Pet Valu: Walk for Dog Guides starts at 12:30pm in Riverside Park.  The walk starts at 1:00pm. Stapley says there are incentive prizes for the people who collect the most money.
