Kramp wins with about 50 percent of the vote

Daryl Kramp will represent Hastings-Lennox and Addington at Queen’s Park. Kramp was elected tonight as voters went to the polls. He says that while he’s happy with the results, it’s time to get to work.

Kramp says he has a number of priorities he wants to tackle.

The PCs will form a majority government. In his victory speech Premier elect Doug Ford referenced his late brother Rob Ford, saying he is looking down proudly tonight. The NDP will become the official opposition and the Liberal Party has maintained official party status, having won more than the eight required seats. Ford said in his victory speech tonight “a new day has dawned in Ontario”.

Meanwhile former Premier Kathleen Wynne has resigned as leader of the Liberal party.
