A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Bancroft area.
Environment Canada says conditions have become favourable for severe thunderstorms to develop for this afternoon; the main threat is damaging winds gusting from 90 to 100 km/h.
Strong winds can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings and break of tree branches.
Hail and locally heavy rain are also possible.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
