The Bancroft Canadian Tire T-Hawks football team turning to the good will of residents to help it next season.
According to the team, new uniforms are needed to play next season. The team also needs money for travelling, as they have seven trips that are 300 kilometres or more throughout the season with just one home game.
While fundraising was done at a recent home game, only enough money for one bus trip was raised. Because of this, one fan of the team has set up a GoFundMe page to help the team out so they can afford the costs to keep the minor sports experience great for kids.
T-Hawks Head Coach Todd Postance says playing football is a great way to help kids build friendships, especially at the age that these players are at.
Postance says that this fundraising will help a lot with keeping registration costs down, which is a big focus for the club.
He figures the bussing costs alone for the season are well over $1000, while helmets and other equipment needs to be replaced and repaired often.
