A special weather statement is in effect for the Canada Day long weekend for Bancroft area.
Environment Canada says today’s forecasted showers and thunderstorms are expected to lead to heat and humidity beginning Friday or Saturday. Day time highs are expected in the low to mid thirties with humidex values into the forties, while overnight lows will only fall into the low twenties.
It is uncertain when the heat event will end. Current indications suggest it could continue into the middle of next week.
Heat warnings will be issued as the event draws nearer.
